Government seeks Deputy Representative to IMO

The Government through the Ministry of Finance and Economic Management is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified ni Vanuatu to be considered for the position of Deputy Permanent Representative of Vanuatu to the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) based in London, England.
Vanuatu is currently represented by a Permanent French national called Laurent Parente but the Chairman of Technical Advisory Committee Eric Festa said it is the intension of the Government to recruit a Deputy who will in the future take over as Vanuatu’s Permanent Representative of Vanuatu to the International Maritime Organisation.

The Deputy will be based in Port Vila however he or she will be expected to travel to London to attend important meeting.
The Deputy is expected to:-
(a) Assist the Permanent Representative in representing the Government of Vanuatu before the IMO and in any international meetings, seminars, conference in relation to his/her functions before the IMO.
(b) Provide the TAC/Government of Vanuatu with any reports resulting from his attendance to international meetings, seminars and conferences mentioned in Article 4 (a) above;
(c) Assist the TAC/Government of Vanuatu in any decision to be made before the IMO;
(d) Assist the TAC Government of Vanuatu in drafting regulations and preparing policies and
(e) Carry out any other functions in relation to IMO as may be instructed.
The Deputy will report directly to the Minister of Finance and Economic Management through TAC.
The TAC is established by a decision of the Council of Ministers following the repeal of the Vanuatu Maritime Authority Act to manage the International Maritime Affairs of Vanuatu (CAP 131).
All expressions of interest are to be marked “Expression of Interest – Deputy Permanent Representative, IMO”.
The closing date of the Notice is May 31 2012.
